We hosted our annual Creative Cult dinner in the new Productions Showroom at Harry HQ on Wednesday, September 11.

Each year we bring together leading creators and industry disruptors. The evening is about learning, discovery and beginning new conversations.

To get the conversation started, Andrea Lucena-Orr from Dulux Australia shared her passion for color forecasting and what’s in store for 2020.

From the moment the doors opened at 6pm, the vibe was electric – this was Melbourne’s third year and the guests were starting to form genuine bonds and alliances, even if they only saw each other at this one calendar dinner, the atmosphere remained heightened for the duration of the evening.

As guests entered, the space was darkened with shards of light only on the centerpieces and spilling ever so slightly on the colour blocked Mila ottomans.

The scene is atmospheric and dramatic with the voice of Ken Nordine’s word jazz on color resonating throughout the space. The all-embracing concept of minimal maximal impact is created through the installation of slick back fabric along the walls, cocooning and minimising the space, then amplifying the space in a maximal way with bold formless tulips still bound in their bulbs strewn on the table and juxtaposed with rises of coloured sand and clusters of tapered candles.

The Big Group prepared a menu titled ‘The Unrequired Dietary’ - a meal designed for this ‘cult of creatives’ to re-address how we eat. It sounds obvious, however as knowledge around the quality of food and food processing becomes more significant, and with the rise of intolerances, the hospitality industry have had to address the elephant in the room – The Dietary Requirement. The sophisticated menu covered (almost) every dietary requirement and was absolutely delicious!

Before everyone headed home, there was one last surprise – in a final celebration of color - The Big Group created a colour-blocked desert installation in the trend colors forecasted by Dulux. So following the presentation guests reunited in the main showroom for an abundance of sweet treats and one more cheeky cocktail!

Thank you Melbourne, see you in 2020!
